Plastic protectors can be slippery, depending on the traction. Rubber protectors seem to wear better and last longer. 

     To apply a sole protector to your cowboy boots, first make sure the soles are clean and dry. Mark the are that needs to be sanded, so that the contact cement will adhere properly. Then, once contact cement is applied and has dried, carefully align the protector with the bottom of the boot and press it down firmly to adhere it. Some protectors may require heat or a special adhesive to stay in place. Be sure to follow the instructions that come with your protector.
